
PHuture Leaders Program

Applications for the 2026 PHuture Leaders Program will open March 9.
Purpose
The PHuture Leaders Program supports early-career governmental public health professionals in North Carolina by strengthening essential skills for both immediate impact and long-term career success. Participants explore leadership in a public health context, build foundational competencies, and develop supportive professional networks to foster continued growth and advancement in the workforce.
Eligibility
Full-time early-career staff of NC public health departments with three to five years of total professional experience.
Timeline

The PHuture Leaders Program is a 14-week experience, with new cohorts onboarding each May and participating through early August.
Curriculum
Participants will build their leadership capacity through weekly self-paced learning and a monthly live webinar led by UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health faculty and staff, with an estimated monthly time commitment of three to five hours per month. More information will be available soon!
