The site would be various addresses as we are a partnership of several health departments. A location would be determined at the time of acceptance with what works best for the student and partnership. We have health department locations in all the following counties: Beaufort, Greene, Pitt, North Hampton, Edgecombe, Halifax, Martin, Terrell, Washington, Hyde, Pamlico, and Dare.

Position Summary
This internship position will provide support to the NENCPPH. The intern will focus on at least one focus area that the partnership as a whole is focusing on. This could range from substance misuse to vaping to health education and more.

Roles & Responsibilities
The NENCPPH Internship will provide the intern with the chance to gain professional experience and valuable insight into the local public health sector. The intern will have the unique opportunity to be exposed to different health departments and a variety of programs and structures throughout the Northeast North Carolina region, while contributing to various initiatives that align with the efforts of the NENCPPH and partnering health departments. Internship project(s) will be developed with a clearly defined scope of work that optimizes intern learning coupled with agency needs. Some travel will be required.
Required Skills & Experience
Current enrollment in an undergraduate program (must have completed one’s junior year) in public health, health administration, social work, or a related field.
Preferred Skills & Experience
No experience required. Preferred skills include: computer skills, public speaking and presentation skills, good communication skills, and the ability to collect data and present in an effective and easy-to-understand way.
